Alex Frost
‘On-the-Go’

8 June – 7 July 2019

Opens 7 June 7–9pm

In 2018 AV News – Europe’s leading AV/IT trade publication – described Alex Frost’s ‘Wet Unboxing’ videos as “an affront to a dry God.” Over the summer of that year, Alex Frost uploaded 48 videos onto YouTube where he submerged and unboxed ‘on-the-go’ products such as ready meals, snacks, protein shakes, vitamin tablets and energy drinks. These videos – like much of Frost’s sculptural work – captured the boundlessness of life today, one where a life ‘on-the-go’ blurs into a work ‘on-the-go’ and where free-time is priceless. These ‘Wet Unboxings’ went on to feature in 30+ articles online, found their way onto Indonesian TV and were listed on the meme hall of fame Knowyourmeme.com.

On-the-Go is the first UK exhibition of Alex Frost’s Wet Unboxing videos.

Alex Frost is an artist based in London and Glasgow. Frost’s work has been exhibited at the 2009 Venice Biennale, Tate (St Ives), Catriona Jefferies (Vancouver), The Modern Institute (Glasgow), Dundee Contemporary Arts, Milton Keynes Gallery, Studio Voltaire (London), Fruitmarket (Edinburgh), Glasgow Museum of Modern Art, Kunstbuero (Vienna) and Frieze Sculpture Park (London).
